  • Protect your bank card by using a credit card with zero international fees & offer better exchange rates then local ATM’s. 
  • Avoid taxis luring you into their vehicle. Use marked vehicles from the taxi lot. 
  • Pay with small bills.
  • Do not leave anything at sight inside of a rental car.
  • Europe uses 220 volts. Make sure your device is compatible or use a transformer.
  • Outsmart pickpockets and thieves using a money belt.
  • Do not sit in a restaurant without prices on display. 
  • Learn a few local words to get excellent customer service.

  • If you rented a car, and have a flat tire or incident, do not accept help from stranger. Call the rental company and always park your vehicle in a safe location. 
  • If you are a female traveling alone,  avoid walking, jogging, or sightseeing alone in secluded areas, especially at night.
  • The tap water in Costa Rica is completely drinkable. 
  • Find SIM cards at the Kolbi (the national telecommunications company) booth at the airport, or in any telephone company store around, such as Claro and Movistar.

  • Do not pull your phone on the street.
  • Do not use the metro at night.
  • Do not show value items like jewelry or expensive watches. 
  • Leave a bank card in your room.
  • Bring the minimum when going outside to the beach and/or party.
  • Get a coverage with travel insurance. 
  • Learning a little Portuguese will help a lot. 
  • Use a money belt. 
  • If you see a bunch of kids running your way at the beach, move away or get in the water.

  • US citizens don’t require a passport or a visa for entry.
  • If renting a car, buy the "AutoExpreso" highway pass. You will save time and money if traveling across the country. 
  • Uber, Lyft and Taxis are hard to find. Renting a car is best, but ensure you can include your auto policy before renting. 
  • There is much more to see outside of San Juan.
  • Hurricane season: September -November. 
  • Airbnb can be expensive. Do not rent a place unless it is done at the Airbnb platform.
  • Hotels are not everywhere, it is best to search and plan before travel.

  • Exercise caution in Panama, do not leave valuable items in your vehicle.

  • A small tourist fee is required when entering the country. 
  • U.S. dollars are interchangeable with the country's currency $1:B1.  
  • Use Uber or Lyft. Taxis are ok but confirm price before traveling.
  • Learn a few words in Spanish. It will help a lot.
  • Do not walk alone at night or in neighborhoods. 
  • Bring repellents for mosquitos. 
  • Avoid swimming in rivers unless you know they’re crocodile-free. 
  • Leave your passport in a secured location and bring a good copy with you.

  • Must complete a Free electronic form before entry and leaving the country. https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/
  • Use this as a currency guideline.  RD$100 = US$2 (rate fluctuate). 
  • Electricity operates at 110 volts.
  • Tap water is not safe to drink.
  • Store your passport and valuables in the hotel safe. Bring a copy.
  • Do not walk alone in isolated areas.
  • Do not get in taxis you did not call or are unmarked. Verify the cost before departing.
  • Purchase a SIM Card. A valid passport, legally required to obtain a SIM card.
